If you are a race fan (or a fan of entertainment), get excited. Finally, we are getting into the heart of race season – and that means plenty of options.
NASCAR continues on their western tour to Auto Club Speedway. There have been four different winners to the start of the 2016 season. Kyle Busch has four top 5s already this year and he has won previously at the 2 mile track; the young gun Austin Dillon continues his promising start to the new season by finishing practice at the top of the chart. Who will be next to etch their name on the 2016 Chase Grid? Tune into @FS1 tomorrow at 11am E.T for Sprint Cup Series practice followed by Xfinity Series qualifying, then Sprint Cup Series final practice and the Xfinity Series TreatMyClot.com 300 presented by Janssen. Sunday’s Auto Club 400 will be at 3:30 p.m ET on FOX.
Formula 1 begins their 2016 season this weekend at the Rolex Australian Gran Prix. It is time to see if the Mercedes organization starts another dominant season; maybe Red Bull Racing, McLaren, Ferarri, Toro Rosso, or Force India steps up to the plate. The much anticipated, new HAAS F1 organization starts their pursuit this year as well. If you are a night bird, the race will be live at 12:30 a.m Sunday night on NBC Sports. Otherwise, record it and enjoy the stars and cars of the most internationally renowned racing series at your leisure.
Last but certainly not least, do not miss the 47th Annual NHRA Gator Nationals from Gainesville Raceway. Multiple track records have already been set this weekend and we don’t think that trend is going to stop. If you want to see side by side 4 second drags and thousands of horsepower put to the ground, Gainesville is the place to be. NHRA kicks off a new partnership with FS1, allowing us to tune in on Sunday live for the finals if you can’t make it out to the track.
Last but not least, let’s not forget that Juan Pablo Montoya won the season opener in the Verizon IndyCar Series in St. Petersburg, FL last weekend. The next stop on the tour will be April 2nd at the Phoenix Gran Prix. Also, the 64th Annual Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring Fueled by “Fresh from Florida” takes the green flag at 10:40 am tomorrow. Not to mention, there is tons of great local short track racing.
So sit back, relax, and enjoy. If you don’t have any plans, get out to the track and be a part of the spectacle. Cheers to 2016.
